
Eric is one of our residents that has moved in to Phase 1A in Eastfields.
When long-time Eastfields resident Eric collected the keys to his new two‑bedroom flat last year, he knew he was stepping into a new chapter - one that arrived at just the right time following his retirement.
After more than 20 years in his three‑bedroom house, the regeneration of Eastfields provided Eric with an opportunity to downsize to a modern, energy‑efficient home that better suited his lifestyle.
Eric said: “It was hard keeping up with the cleaning and upkeep of the house, and the stairs. I didn’t need all that space anymore.
“What I wanted was something smaller and easier to maintain which is why I agreed to move to a two-bedroom flat,” he added.
His new flat, is one of the first new homes in Phase 1A of the regeneration. The building’s energy‑efficient design means the home benefits from high‑performance insulation, underfloor heating, and a modern heating system - all of which have already made a noticeable difference. “You can really feel it. The warmth stays in; the noise stays out,” he said.
The switch to fully electric heating and hot water has been smoother than expected. “I was a bit unsure at first, but it’s been an easy transition. Everything just works.”
Support from Clarion’s Money Guidance Team helped provide reassurance. “They went through everything with me and made sure I was receiving everything I was entitled to.”
Now fully settled in, Eric says he’s happy with how things have turned out. “I’m comfortable, everything’s easy to manage, and I feel ready for this next stage of life. I couldn’t ask for much more.”
